How many times have you felt so overwhelmed by all the things you have to do that you’ve had no idea where to start or what to do?
How much of your life is spent doing all the things you think you should be doing, have to be doing, ought to be doing, instead of what you would really, truly like and desire to be doing?
And how much of your life do you spend judging you for still not doing or being enough?
I used to have a PhD in doing the things in my life that weren’t really true or fun or light for me. I had bought into everyone else’s projections and expectations of what life should and ought to be like until I realized it wasn't serving me and there was a different possibility.
And then I learned that I actually had choice. Choice without the guilt, the fear, the doubt, the regret, the shame, the blame and a whole host of other things
Choices are what make up our lives. And they are very different than decisions. Decisions lock up and limit our choices. They make us feel like we can’t choose again, especially if we’ve decided (on top of the original decision) that it’s a ‘good’ or the ‘right’ one.
Whereas choices, allow you to continuously choose again and again and again!
How much more expansive would that be?
Are you still operating from decisions? What about the expectations of everyone else – in your family, in your circle of friends, in your work, etc.?
Is now the time to change that and choose what’s true for YOU?
Awesome! So what if, when you didn’t know what else to do for you, you chose to ask yourself, “What would be the most fun thing for me to do right now?” …and then chose whatever came up?
Here’s another invitation for when you don’t know what else to do…ask a question. A question that truly invites a new possibility and choice for you. A question like any of the following:
What else is possible here that I haven’t be willing to see? How does it get any better than this? What is this? Can I change it? If so, how? What can I choose that would expand my world? Who or what can I be or do today that would make me money right away?
Actually, don’t ask any of the above – they’ll make things too easy and you don’t want that right?
Thought so.
